Formed in 2001, the choir was originally set up to support the churches of the Kingsdown & Creekside benefice in the villages between Sittingbourne and Faversham, and although the focus of the choir has shifted over the years, it is still affiliated to the churches and has a Christian ethos. The choir is able to sing for weddings within the benefice or at churches beyond where there is no resident choir.
The main focus of the choir is the annual summer and Christmas candle-lit concerts which have raised money for a great number of charities and good causes, especially local ones. The choir uses sheet music, although there is no requirement to sight-read, and it’s repertoire is drawn from the light classical to arrangements of pop, gospel and folk music. The choir is accompanied for concerts by Christine Adams.
We meet at Newnham Village Hall every Monday evening in term time between 7.45 and 9.45pm. We’d love to hear from you if you enjoy singing and are looking to make a regular commitment.
